Pray without ceasing.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV)

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

I remember reading that Oswald Chambers was once quoted as saying: “Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work."

As I have grown with God and become more observant about what is done within services , by whom and how it has been clear to me that some of God’s people are given the responsibility to preach His Word in public settings before large audiences, some to teach in small groups or to draw alongside others to support and disciple them. some pass on words and pictures. Some have the gift of organisation or encouragement.

However, the thing which has stood out for me is that privilege of all God’s people is to pray!

To do this it will involve the sacrifice of time, the giving up of other considerations and activities to focus upon the Lord.

There is however a real joy in prayer and the regularity of being before the Lord in prayer, taking the opportunity to worship Him, intercede and listen.

There is a real need today for committed intercessors and that is the challenge for all of us!
